are musicians being held back in the church?

Poets, artists, writers, and photographers. They have the green light in many of today's churches. They have been given artistic freedom. But not musicians.

"Church is not the place for guitar solos."

"Riffs belong in the bars and nightclubs."

"We don't need production value. This is church."

And that's why Christian Radio is crap. Musicians have always been under close watch by the church, and are "leading" the congregation from the stage each week while having a leash around their artistic abilities and minds. They are being dragged along by contemporary trends which are more like rules and guidelines on "how to worship".

Shit.

I'm tired of practicing during rehearsal, rehearsing during sound check, and sound checking during service. Learn your stuff or get off the stage! And make it snazzy. We can't let the devil have all the good music.
