time with brother
It's just a fact of nature that my brothers are a bit odd. I am too, so don't think I'm saying I'm not. I know for a fact that I'm odd and socially awkward, so it's cool to hang out with my odd brothers. This morning I got a call from Josh asking to hang out. He is leaving in about two weeks for a summer job in Colorado. So we hit up Starbucks and talked literature, music, ideology, and everything in between. Then we came back and played a little guitar on the back porch, while watching the end of the rainstorm. Josh and Queem are very different, but alike (the brother thing). I see Queem almost everyday, so hanging out with Josh for a few hours was refreshing and interesting. But of us three, Josh and I are the most opposite, I think, and Queem falls in the middle somewhere. Everything that Josh is going through as a recent college grad, trying to find himself in the world, makes sense to me. I did the same thing. I had the same experience having to deal with parents who weren't always understanding or supportive of our outrageous schemes or plans for future stardom. Though I don't always agree with Josh's solutions to those problems, I understand his point and his curiosity towards different resolutions. Ever since he was a kid, he's always done things his way. And that usually meant doing things totally different from the norm or what was "expected" of him. I'm a big brother; I can't help but worry about my little bros sometimes. But I know that if any of us could pull ourselves out of something, it's Josh. His optimism and resilience will get him through, as long as he thinks before doing. We are both crazy dreamers and schemers. I have respect for him following his dreams, and wish him well. I hope he knows he can receive support or help from me whenever he asks.
